About the event
SCARS is a non-profit, almost entirely volunteer-operated, registered charitable organization dedicated to reducing the number of homeless animals in northern Alberta. Since 2002, SCARS has rescued and re-homed over 10,000 animals. We believe there is a suitable home for all homeless animals — young or old, large or small. We provide veterinary care and foster homes until permanent homes are found. Our foster homes provide the animals with warm shelter, food, exercise and tender loving care — something that so many of these animals have never experienced. We also promote responsible pet ownership, the importance of spaying and neutering, and community awareness. SCARS relies solely on money raised through memberships, donations, sponsorships, grants and other fundraising efforts. We can only rescue as many animals as our resources allow.
